Veterans Day Statement

Today we honor all of the brave men and women who put their lives on the line each day to protect our nation. The selflessness of these individuals allows us to live under the flag of freedom.

This Veterans Day seems particularly poignant, as this is the first Veterans Day that gay and lesbian service members can serve openly and be recognized for their service.

We can also thank the Congress and President Obama for repealing “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” so that all Americans can serve proudly in the U.S. military.
