Fred Karger’s statement on the coming out of former GOP National Chairman Ken Mehlman yesterday:

“Congratulations to Ken for his courageous coming out yesterday.  He is a brilliant political mind, and how fortunate for the LGBT community that he said he will work with us in our fight for equal rights.

As someone who came out publicly just four years ago, I know how difficult a double life can be.   Being openly gay is the only way to live.

It freed me to become active in our battle for full equality, and allowed me to even  form a Presidential Exploratory Committee to consider becoming the first openly gay candidate for President of the United States and as a Republican.

Ken, I need your help!”
